This article explains how you can disable the Initial Configuration Task List at logon.

Windows Server 2008 offers new ways to configure initial tasks through Initial Configuration Tasks Extension. This snap-in extension is launched when you reboot the computer running Windows Server 2008 except Server Core. There is a registry key to disable the automatic launch of Initial Configuration Tasks Extension at logon.

  • KEY: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ServerManager\Oobe

  • Value Name: DoNotOpenInitialConfigurationTasksAtLogon

  • Value Data: 1=enabled, 0=disabled

Sadece virtual pc applikasyonu 3.parti oalrak duruyor.. ESET'in eklentilerini kapattım

Based on my research, there were  several known issues regarding “Windows Server Initial Configuration Tasks has stopped working” on pre-RTM Windows Server 2008 OS. And these issues should be fixed in RTM version.

Therefore, please first confirm whether you have installed Windows Server 2008 RTM version.

If so, to narrow down this issue, please try performing a clean boot and check whether this issue is caused by any third-party services.

To perform a clean boot, please do as follows:

1. Click Start->Run...->type msconfig and press Enter

2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable All third party Services.

3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items

4. Click OK and choose Restart
